About the Course

warriorsThe Nitty Gritty course is a thorough 7 week introduction to the practice of yoga taught by Ryan Hall, RYT. Throughout the course we systematically and sequentially cultivate your yoga practice from the ground up. The course is focused on the practical embodiment of core yoga concepts. 

The Nitty Gritty is a place where it is okay to be a beginner, a safe space for questions, for not knowing. It is a place where the basics will get covered. Some of things that will be covered are: Sanskrit/English terms, Alignment, The Breath, Surya Namaskar, and Modifications.

Whether you are new to yoga or just wish to deepen and refine your practice The Nitty Gritty is good way to begin. The goals for the course are; to cultivate the “A-HA” moment when conceptual babble becomes embodied and realized; For you to feel empowered in your yoga practice; For you to feel safe walking into any yoga studio and practice. This will happen through a combination of methodically breaking down poses, engaging in practices that facilitate the “A-HA,” partner work, and integration practices.

Course Details

  • Our next course begins March 1, 2015
  • Course is limited to 14 participants
  • All classes will meet on ??? from ?? time
  • All classes are 90 minutes
  • The cost for the course is $300, early bird pricing of $250 if paid by February 15th
  • Participants need to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to class
  • Attendance to all classes is strongly recommended as we are diving in together

Week 1

Day 1: Introductions & Breathe- Full Yogic Breathe, Pit of Abdomen(as relates to breath, root to rise) Ujayii Pranayama
Day 2: Tadasana (Mountain)- Muscles in Bones Out- Intro Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation)

Week 2

Day 1: Bhujaghasana (Cobra), Pit of Abdomen (POA),Core Stability
Day 2: Adho Muhka Svanasana (Down Dog)

Week 3

Day 1: Integration Practice
Day 2: Hip Open/Hip Closed Poses

Week 4

Day 1: Seated Forward Folds
Day 2: Twists- Seated, Lunging, Standing

Week 5

Day 1: Integration Practice
Day 2: Balancing Poses

Week 6

Day 1: Back Bends
Day 2: Inversions

Week 7

Day 1 & 2: Full Practice 90 min.
